Mary will be taking up Wagner again this Spring as Elsa in Lohengrin at the Polish National Opera (Opera Narodowa) in Warsaw, at the Teatr Weilki. A co-production with Welsh National Opera directed by director, set and costume designer Anthony McDonald with Choreography by Philippe Giraudeau, with Lighting Designer Lucy Carter, and conducted by Stefan Soltesz looks to be a fantastic show. Mary's Lohengrin will be Krystian Benedikt; Ortrud, Anna Lubanska, and the premiere will take place at 6pm on the 11th of April, 2014.
A mythical tale about the confrontation between good and evil, impossible love, loneliness and longing - topics which fascinated the composer to such a degree that he devoted almost his whole life to them. In this case, the love of Elsa and Lohengrin cannot be fulfilled - due both to Lohengrin's origin (he is a knight of the Holy Grail, a messenger of God, a supernatural being) and to the tragedy of fate in general.
Shows are April 11 (6pm), 13 (5pm), 15 (6pm) and 17 (6pm).

Mary is back to dazzling her fans as Janacek's Katya Kabanova, at Theater Basel in Switzerland.

The production is directed by Armin Petras, and conducted by Gabriel Feltz.
oper-aktuell said of Mary's performance: "Mary Mills is the vocal event of the performance. The more they move away from their drab surroundings inside, the warmer and more prosperous her fantastically beautiful soprano voice rang out. A voice, unbelievably matching and sensitive for this role. Since an intensity of expression is present, an overwhelming savoring of the Janácek as economical, but with more effective full lyrical upswings simple and inspired."
Mary picked up a role dear to her heart, the title role of Janacek's Katya Kabanova, at the Staatsoper in Stuttgart at the beginning of 2010.

Mary sang in a new Doctor Faust - but not the part of Margherite! Mary sings the part of the Duchess of Parma in Busoni's Doktor Faust at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville. Masterwork of Italian visionary Ferruccio Busoni, (1866-1924), Busoni's Doktor Faust parts from the story of Goethe and with this work, and synthesizes the different styles and forms, the concept of unity over the separation between theater, church, popular and concert music.
Busoni is one of the most fascinating figures in music - in between the romanticism of the 19th century and the vanguard of the 20th, he showed himself to be one of the greatest pianists of all time as well as composer, conductor, teacher, thinker and essayist.
Directed by famed theater-maker Peter Mussbach and conducted by the Maestranza's own music director Pedro Halffter.

Another world premiere for Mary! Mary played the title role of Joan of Arc in Walter Braunfels' new opera Szenen aus dem Leben der Heiligen Johanna at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin to rave reviews. Ulf Schirmer conducted a Christoph Schlingensief production.
Jeanne d’Arc, the maid of Orléans, is one of the major mythic characters in European history. Since her life and times in the 15th century her life has been retold under diverse ideological auspices in various epochs. Walter Braunfels’ SZENEN AUS DEM LEBEN DER HEILIGEN JOHANNA , Scenes from the Life of Saint Joan is a musical set of images that consists of eight hermetic and autonomous, musically very colourful and dimensional units.
